If a sitter only visits my pets, how long do they stay there? We require our sitters to remain at the house for a minimum of 15-minutes. This, however, can last up to 45-minutes depending on your preference.
-
Am I able to meet the Pet Sitter before I hire them?Yes. We schedule a Meet-and-Greet between you and a pet sitter, free of charge. The booking will only commence if both you and the sitter are happy to continue. If either of you are not happy to continue, we will arrange a Meet-and-Greet between you and another pet sitter in your area.
-
What pets are catered for?We cater for almost all types of pets, including: - Dogs - Cats (both indoors and outdoors) - Caged rodents, such as rats and hamsters - Birds - Snakes - Spiders - Reptiles, such as geckos If your pet isn't mentioned on this list, pop us an email at admin@petsandfriends.co.za to find out if they qualify!
-
Do I pay my pet sitter directly? No. You will be required to pay Pets and Friends after the booking has ended. We will then distribute payment to the sitter accordingly. A 50% deposit is required to secure your booking.
-
Will the pet sitter take care of household chores? Our pet sitters will keep your home tidy—think washing pet bowls, picking up after playtime, and leaving things as neat as they found them. But they’re not there to do spring cleaning! Please don’t leave a mountain of laundry or a sink full of science experiments behind. A tidy home helps your sitter focus on what really matters—your pet’s happiness and care.
-
How do I get into contact with my pet sitter during the booking?Once the Meet-and-Greet has taken place and both you and the pet sitter are happy to proceed, you will receive each other's contact details. You should then be able to reach them at any time.
-
Can I request a specific pet sitter?Yes. There is an option on the form that you can fill in to specify the pet sitter that you want. You can also send an email to bookings@petsandfriends.co.za and we will match you with your requested pet sitter.
-
Will I receive updates from my pet sitter?Yes. You will be able to specify the type of updates you want and the frequency of the updates, in the instruction form we provide. The types of updates can consist of location pin drops, videos, and pictures.
-
What happens if something runs out while the sitter is at my house? We strongly advise that you leave R1000-00 for emergency use for items such as pet food, should it run out. The pet sitter may use these funds for the vet if need be. They MAY NOT use these funds for personal use. They should be able to provide receipts to you of what the funds were used for. IF they end up spending more than the emergency amount that was left, they must keep track of this so that you can reimburse them. If no amount is left for emergencies, you will be expected to reimburse the pet sitter for expenses related to your pets IF the pet sitter is able to provide you with the appropriate receipts and consulted you before making the purchase.
-
What happens when a veterinary emergency occurs while my pets are under the supervision of the pet sitter? The pet sitter is required to contact you immediately to request the course of action. If you cannot be reached timeously, the sitter is authorized to take necessary actions. This includes; - Transporting the pet(s) to the closest veterinarian - Request on-site treatment from a veterinarian - Transport the pet(s) to an emergency clinic if the abovementioned options are not feasible
-
